I'm wiring for voice, not data. The patch panel I'm using takes RJ-45 and the thinking is that using an RJ-45 end will be a better fit than using and RJ-11 (i.e., less wobbly, more reliable; this was suggested by the guy who installed our data). We've been using the patch panel for a couple years for voice plugging the RJ-11 ends into it, so I'm not worried about the patch panel not working for our application.
