I would work on one connection at a time, to start with. Make sure the wires go all the way into the RJ-45 plug; look at both sides of the plug. Make sure you have the right kind of plugs for the wire you are using. The green on white wire, etc. (or orange on white, depending on the color code you are using) has to go from the same pin on the RJ-45 that plugs into the computer as the one that plugs into the hub, when you hold them next to each other side-by-side and look at the bottoms of the plugs, reguardless of what is in between. If they don't, the light simply will not come on. You either have them wired right or you don't. There is no magic in it.
