The first thing I would do is make sure all of the cables are tight (including the power to the monitor). This can be easily overlooked.
Does the monitor power even come on (usually a green light on the front of the monitor)?
Also, you can try switching the monitor with another system. See where the problem goes. If it goes to the new system, then it has followed the monitor, and the monitor must have gone bad. If the new monitor doesn't work on the system, then maybe you have a bad video card.
