Q.  In windows 98 I sometimes I get an error message (an exception OE has occurred at 0028:C182B573 in VxD scsilhlp(03)+00000583...) and sometimes it just locks...

A.  scsi1hlp.vxd is located in Windows 98 in c:\windows\system\iosubsys.  It is a driver for old SCSI I drives (e.g., old SCSI CD-ROM drives).  It loads every time Windows starts. Try renaming it to scsihlp.dux.
