Q.  I have a motherboard with a VIA MVP3 chipset.  My USB scanner doesn't work.  What's wrong?

A.  Hop over to VIA's web site and download and install the USB Filter Driver.  If you are running Win 98 you should also install the IRQ Routing Driver.

Q. After installing my ScanJet I get the following error when booting to Windows 98: 'Could not load device driver HPSJVXD.VXD...'  I can't find HPSJVXD.VXD on the HP CD which came with the scanner.   Where can I find it?

A.  The file is on the Windows 98 CD.  Extract HPSJVXD.VXD and HPSJVXD.EXE to C:\windows\system.  If you have a USB scanner, extract USBSCAN.SYS to C:\windows\system32\drivers.  Extract them per following examples:

Windows 98: Start, Programs, Accessories, System Tools, System Information, Tools, File Checker, Extract one file form installation disk, enter hpsjvxd.vxd in Start, Restore from… browse to D:\win98 where D: is your CD-ROM drive, Ok, Save File… Browse to C:\Windows \system, OK, OK, close.

Windows Me: Start, Programs, Accessories, System Tools, System Information, Tools, System Configuration Utility, Extract file, enter hpsjvxd.vxd, Start, ...
