CPU Temperature(s)
Robert4390 Mar-03-01 05:56 PM
I have an Abit BP6 mb with two Celeron 366's. The cpu temp(s), according to the Award bios, is usually about 114 degress F. Does this sound about right, or too high?

That does sound high. I have found that most of my celerons run between 90-95 without overclocking. Are you using retail heatsink for intel. I found they do not do a very good job cooling. There are e-tailers that specialize in cooling and heatsink fans. and can bring that temperature down if it is acurate.
Perhaps you want to verify that by checking with some other monitoring sofware. Abit's now come with hardware doctor, use it to see what that says. If you don't have anything else there are other programs out there to use to monitor your system.

I have had lock ups above 108 F (42 C) I have never got as hot as you and I have 3 celerons all overclocked pretty high.

Email me and I will give you some good cooling web sites to get a good heatsink(s).

Thanks, Deerslayer, I thought the temps were a little high. Bios and Sandra diagnostic utility agreed on the temps. The hot spot, according to the touch of my hand, seems to be in the video card area.

Here are several cooling sites:

I like millisec because they are in the east (N.J.) and only charge $5 to ship. Have it in 2 days.

I would check one of them out and see if you can find a hsf for them. I have a globalwin fop 32 on my 633 Celeron 2. Does a good job.

633 Celeron @1055, Abit bx-133, 256 pc 133 @ cas 2-2-3, ATI radeon 64 mb DDR
