Dual boot Win 2000 Pro and Win 98/ME
Snedwan Aug-31-01 09:47 AM
My system has 1 partition with Win 2K PRO installed, a colleague tells me I can install Win 98 on the same partition hassle free, is this true cos I have read a few articles saying it can't be done. I don't want to have to start reformatting or creating new partitions. Any advice ???

Thanks in advance

MS KB Article ID: Q221061, Cannot Dual Boot Windows 2000 on a Shared Partition, at http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q221/0/61.ASP?:

“You should install Windows 2000 on a partition that does not also contain Windows NT 4.0, Windows 98, or Windows 95. It is not supported to have Windows 2000 and Windows NT 4.0, Windows 98, or Windows 95 on the same partition.”

Any advice ??? http://duxcw.com/digest/Howto/software/windows/dual/index.html.
