Dos command question about 98 install
JKennedy55 Mar-02-01 00:05 AM
Does anyone know the command from the command prompt to launch the installation of win98se?
I think it is something like installwin98se but I can recall, any help would be great. Thanks!

You can do this in many different ways. Try this
from the C: prompt, type D: (this would switch you to the cdrom drive. tnen you can do a DIR to see where setup is located, (Assuming that D: represents your cd-rom drive) then while at D:
type Intall C:
Indicating that you want to install the contents from the D: drive to the C: drive.
Good luck1!

When you type Install from the D: promt, you need to specify that you want the contents installed on the root of c: by typing it this way Install C:\

You need to make sure you are using the 98se full install version if you want to load from dos, the 98se upgrade will not run from dos. Get a message saying you need windows to run this program, or something like that.

D:\win98>setup /ie
where D: is you CD-ROM.
The /ie flag tells it not to make a Startup floppy. You can also copy the cab files to your hard disk and launch it from there with the same command. See http://duxcw.com/digest/Howto/software/windows/upgrade/intro.htm for details. I have not seen the problem that Deerslayer refers to. Larry
