Check the cables. http://duxcw.com/digest/Fromshop/harddisk/spinup.htm might work, but it is a long shot and the drive probably would not come up long enough to get that much data off.

Forget that idea. It won't work. Take an old drive apart someday and you'll see why. If the printed circuit board is causing it, You may be able to swap it. But it would probably have to the same version and most require special tools. Larry
