Software Problem
akmour Nov-09-00 11:26 AM
I have a program that works under dos and I am trying to install it under windows 98 everything completes well only that when I try to execute the program I get a wierd message "Runtime Error at 0F2A:0091" this occurs when installing it on a new PC P-III 500 procesor when using my old PC Pentium-MMX 200 it works just fine... is there a program that can reduce the clock speed or something so that this program can work I would be very much obligated.
Thank you

What is the program? The problem is probably not the difference in speed between the two computers. Does it require a dongle (a device that plugs into the printer port) or other security device? Larry

The program is for drawing mechanical plans but it doesn't need any sort of device on the printer port (hasp, dongle etc.) All I have to do is to install it and modify the autoexec.bat file with some commands it needs. Any thing on your mind ? Apostolis...

What is in the autoexec.bat file. Other than the lines for this program, what are the differences, if any, between the autoexec.bat on the fast machine and the autoexec.bat on the slow machine? Fishing... Larry

Suggest looking at c:\windows\programs.txt. Also, considering the type of program you are trying to run, the difference between the computers causing the problem could be the difference in the display adapters. Larry

I looked up the programs.txt and found nothing, I even tried to change the display adapters AGP to PCI but still the same message occurs the program is called SPIRIT it's a clean DOS program

You took the display adapter out of the computer that works and installed it and it's driver in the computer that does not work? Larry
