LAN 2 Computer Loopback!!!!!
GILDARAS May-08-01 09:02 PM
I have two computers 1 Duron 850 running Windows 98SE with a D-Link DFE-530TX+ and a Dell Insprion 8000 Pentium 850 running Windows 2000 w/Actiontec 82559-based Mini PCI Ethernet 10/100 adapter.
The problem is that I can not get both computers to communicate to each other. I have tested the Dell's adapter and it works but my Duron system gives me a Loopback error when I go to Diagnostics

What am I doing Wrong?

The loopback test will fail unless a loopback adapter is connected to the RJ-45 jack on the network adapter. A loopback adapter connects the Ethernet transmitter (pins 1 and 2) to its receiver (pins 3 and 6). The first step is to check the LEDs found on the back of most network adapters, and on hubs and switches. Most of them have Link and Activity LEDs. The Link LEDs should be on solid and the Activity LEDs should be blinking. If this isnít the case and you are using a crossover cable (?), the likely cause of the problem is the cable. Larry
