Took me a while to find out that Bell Sympatico High Speed is DSL. Hopefully it connects to a network adapter in your PC instead of USB... See http://duxcw.com/faq/ics/waysshare.htm for your answer. Larry

gooberfudgen must be from Canada (as I am) since that's where Bell Sympatico is offered.

The usual kit connects to a network adapter as you were hoping, although there is an option to get the kit without the network card (it's an extra $7 cdn - that's value, heh )

In that case, I would purchase router and connect both computers to the router with straight-thru cables. Other options are at http://duxcw.com/faq/ics/waysshare.htm. The SMC Barricade broadband router (http://duxcw.com/digest/Reviews/Network/smc/smc7004br/smc7004br.htm) comes with two straight-thru cables. If the crossover cable is long and it would be difficult to replace, then I would cut-off one of the plugs and install a new one wired to make it a straight-thru cable (http://duxcw.com/digest/Howto/network/cable/cable1.htm). Other routers have an uplink port which can accommodate the crossover cable without change. Larry
