FM56-H Modem

I posted about another problem earlier now that I have finally gooten the port problem fixed (which took a little trial and error) I am getting a totally different message. When I try to use dial up it tells me:

The computer is not receiving a response from the modem. Check that the modem is plugged in and if necessary turn the modem off and then turn it back on.

It is as if it is looking for a external modem. Could you please assist me with this.

Open My Computer>Dail-up Networking>right click the connection>select Properties>at the bottom of that Window click on the down arrow>select the other MODEM. The list probably has more than one instance of the MODEM listed and the dial-up connection is still trying to use the old MODEM configuration, which, of course, no longer exists. Larry

send it back to acer! I sell acer computers and this modem has alwalys been a problem. I have just sent 5 units back. They always drop off line
or will not connect.

Yes, the FM56-H has not been the best MODEM product made by AOpen, but they "do not ALWAYS drop off line or will not connect." That is, if you are using up-to-date drivers. For details see http://duxcw.com/digest/Reviews/Modems/fm56-h.htm. Larry
