overki11 Oct-13-01 10:02 PM
Any recommend a card, currently have Matrox G400. Is it worth upgrading to a mmx card, can't afford G-force 3 or what about a g-force 2. Running on a abit kt7a mobo, duron 800 and 256mb.

The GeFroce 2 ti 200 is supposed to be around the same performance as the GF2 PRO. Also the ATI 7500 is out and the 8500 will be shortly.

The budget-oriented Radeon VE 64MB is under $80, and about 10x better than your current matrox in 3-D gaming.

Since the ATI 8500 is now out, the Radeon 64 ddr will drop in the $100 dollar range shortly. I have a Radeon and it is a good card with great image quality. It is also been out for over 1 year now. When upgrading I always try to buy something that is not already "dated" like the VE and the 64 retail VI/VO cards have become already.
If you intend to run windows 2000/XP I would not recommend a ATI card until they learn how to make a decent driver for these 2 operating systems.
