VREDIR.VXD, DFS.VXD & MSNP32.DLL should be in C:\windows\system. They should be in the cab files on the Windows 98 CD in D:\win98, were D: is your CD-ROM drive. You can extract them using Start, Programs, Accessories, System Tools, System Information, Tools, System File Checker. (In Windows ME use Start, Programs, Accessories, System Tools, System Information, Tools, System Configuration Utility.) Larry

Most likely, those files are not missing at all. That message is usually displayed when those files become "unbound" in the registry, or when some network device/protocol is missing files. Usually the problem with those files occurs when you install something in the Network Control Panel that does not install properly.

If you have recently installed a network card or protocol into your system, remove it and reinstall it. You might also need different drivers, as some drivers (ie. Intel's Tulip) do not work with newer cards. The IPX protocol is often also responsible for this message.
