XP home and IE6/Outlook Express problems
WolfStrongSr Jun-19-02 02:59 PM
Ok, does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this problem I'm having with IE6 and Outlook Express. The problem is simple, in Outlook Express it's not saving my PWs for my 2 different Email accounts. Whenever I go to check my Email I have to put in my pw every time. I've clicked the save pw box and still it doesn't do anything. Similarily there are a couple of websites that have restricted areas that I use and have to put in my name and pw each time and again, I click save pw and it still doesn't do it.

Is this a simple problem? I upgraded from Windows 98 to XP home. In 98 I never had this problem. It's nothing major mind you just annoying. The only thing I can think of to do is re-install XP but really don't wanna do that unless it's the only way.

Try deleting the *.pwl files in C:\windows. This will, of course, remove all passwords stored by Windows. Larry

Ummm....ok.....can you tell me where they are in XP? There is no C:\windows in XP. I'm assuming in XP it's in C:\WINNT but even a search of my entire hd for any *.PWL files comes up empty...

Oh well, you can't win 'em all. Sorry, I jumped on that one. Try this: OLEXP: Your Outlook Express Password Is Not Retained in Windows 2000 or XP (Q264672) at http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q264672 (copy and paste the whole link). Larry
