I CAN'T INSTALL WINDOWS ANYMORE

My computer worked fine before it crashed because of missing some file. So I format my hard drive (maxtor 30GB) and try to install windows 98 full version.
Whenever i try to install, it keep saying that there is "General Protection Error and error on Setupx.dll" so i can't install no more. Or sometimes it says that problem with SuWin so I can't install!!!
I am open to any opinion about installing Windows 98.
I even call the Microsoft Technical support and try to fix it...but they couldn't help me. Only thing they said was take my computer to computer shop to get fix. They said the possible problems are in the Bio or my hard-drive
Thanks

That was probably a correct answer fom MS support. http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=KB;EN-US;q224836 has details and other possible remedies. Larry
