upgrade to win2k
dwd5th Aug-13-01 10:07 PM
I just upgrade my system to win2k. When I do a shutdown, I get the message "It is now safe to turn off your computer" and you have to hit the power switch and hold it for about 5 seconds to get it to shutoff. When I had win 98 second editionand installed did a shutdown, it would bring down win98 and then turn the box off.

Using Win2k, how do I make it bring down the OS and then turn the box off without hitting the power switch?

Pull the power cord? That is the way it is. You may find a setting in your motherboardís CMOS Setup that will change the 4 second (thatís what itís supposed to be) wait to shutdown to Instant Off. Larry
