changing VIA drivers with windows XP rc2
deerslayer Aug-13-01 02:06 PM
I downloaded XP rc2 from Microsoft the other week and installed it in dual boot with 98se. XP was nice enough to install the via driver as well as video drivers for me. I removed the video drivers and installed Detonator 12.9 for 2000 in and got a 50% increase in performance. now for the via drivers. If you look @ the driver details, it says that it is a special version for XP apparently. I tried installing the 4.32 4 in 1's, and it wont work. also tried 4.31. Had to use system restore to get it back the way it was. any ideas.???

None yet. RC1 worked fine for me with the VIA MVP3 chipset without the VIA drivers, but I have not played with it more than an hour or so. I will download RC2 shortly, as soon as I clear the backlog out of my shop. Larry

Well it does seem to work fine, but since 4.32 4-1's are best for 98/ME/2000, I wanted to try them with XP.
