Win98SE locks up when trying to play High Heat Baseball 2002
tmwhalens Aug-02-01 02:53 AM
this is crazy, so it seems to me. i have played Vampire: The Redemption, and Thief on my Win98SE system without failure...but not High Heat Baseball 2002 (by 3DO).

here are my current system specs:

OS --> Win98SE
RAM --> 256mb pc100
CPU --> PIII 600
HD --> Maxtor 20+ gig
GRAPHIC CARD --> Radeon VE 32mb
SOUND CARD --> Creative Sound Blaster 16
INTERNET --> LinkSys 10/100 Ethernet NIC
CD? --> Sony 16x/10x/40x cdrw burner
MONITOR --> Gateway EV700
DIRECTx --> DirectX 8.0a
KEYBOARD --> Gateway 101 key

here are my IRQ settings viewed by MY PROGRAM -> DEVICE MANAGER -> 2x click Computer:

00
>>> system timer

01
>>> keyboard

02
>>> programmable interrup controller

03
>>> communications port -- port 2

04
>>> communications port -- port 1

05
>>> Creative Sound Blaster Live!
>>> IRQ holder for PIC steering

06
>>> standard floppy disk controller

07
>>> printer port (lpt1)

08
>>> system CMOS/real time clock

09
>>> *** IRQ not existent yet...because i deleted references to SB16 emulation, since IRQ 5 has Sound Blaster Live!

10
>>> Intel PCI to USB Universal Host Controller
>>> irq holder for pci steering

11
>>> LinkSys 10/100 NIC
>>> Radeon VE graphic card
>>> irq holder for pci steering

12
>>> ps/2 mouse compatible port

13
>>> numeric data processor

14
>>> Intel bus master ide controller
>>> primary ide controller

15
>>> Intel bus master ide controller
>>> secondar ide controller

here is what happening when i try to play the High Heat Baseball 2002 game:

loadup of game --> good
play music while loading up game --> good
display menus in game --> good
make selections in menu --> good
loadup of practice/HR derby/game --> good
introduction of players, show graphics, play music, "play ball!" --> bad...machine locks up....

what do i do from here? i should be able to play my High Heat Baseball 2002 game.

thank you,

Thomas

Try disabling the USB controller in the CMOS Setup if you are not using it. Larry
