Shut Down
Nagler Dec-28-00 03:48 PM
Hi Larry,
I recently installed Windows-98-SE on a Pentium 233 MMX. After installing a couple of programs, it started to show this problem: When I shutdown, either it stalls or it goes into a sort of endless loop showing the Windows 98 logo but the "It is safe to turn off your computer" message never comes! I´ve tried to end all remaining tasks with Ctrl-Alt-Del and then shutdown but all I get is a black screen! I turn it off in this situation and when I turn it on back, it runs scandisk showing that the shutdown wasn´t right!
Any idea about what can it be?

Carlos.

“Microsoft has released the Windows 98 Second Edition Shutdown Supplement that addresses shutdown issues on computers with specific hardware and software configurations running Windows 98 Second Edition. These issues include computers restarting when shut down and computers hanging on shutdown.”

Go to http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/ and select the Windows 98 Second Edition Shutdown Supplement from the list of downloads available for your computer. Larry
