Cd burner that doesn't work
budz4u Jun-04-02 01:18 AM
I have a yamaha cd burner that no longer works. I would like to know if it is diffcult to uninstall from my computer. Is there a certain way the burner has to be removed? Would there be anything else I would need to do after removing it from my computer? I have a external USB 1.0 burner that I currently use but my easy cd creator photorelay program recognizes the yamaha burner instead of the USB external one. I have a HP USB external burner. I'd appreciate anyone helping me out. Thanks!!!

I would start by simply removing the drive. If the drive is on the same cable as the nard disk the hard disk may have to be jumpered as a Master with No Slave present. I said "may." It depends on the hard disk drive. Most Western Digitals yes; most Maxtors no. I do not recall what has to be done to cd creator, if anything. Check Roxio’s web site (http://www.roxio.com/en/support/roxio_support/ecdc/ecdc_index.html). Larry

I have 2 hard drives one is a maxtor 20 gig and the other one is a 10 gig fujitsu. Would that matter about me having to reset the jumper as master with no slave? The maxtor is the master hard drive and the fujitsu is my slave <second hd>. Thanks Larry for responding. Your site has helped learn to repair my own computer.

If both hard disk drives are on the same cable, you do not have to do anything to them. Larry
