CD rom support with bootable disk
chandra Apr-25-01 02:28 AM
Hai,
I am trying to format my hard disk and I have windows 98 bootable folppy disk. Initailly I formatted my C drive and then restarted the system with bootable disk. I selected CD rom supprot and when I place the win98 cd in the drive and try to load win98, it is giving -- drive not ready, abort, fail -- error. I tried with another normal CD which contains programs files the I am able to see the CD contents.

Even I tried with win ME cd, I have got same problem as I get with win98 CD. When I try to read the CD ,cd drive is spinning and I am able to hear the sound.

What might be the problem for unable to read contents of all CDs.

Adavnce thanks
Regards,

Chandra

The Win 98 bootable floppy probably does not have a CD-ROM driver that is compatible with your CD-ROM drive, or the CD-ROM drive is defective. See if http://duxcw.com/faq/cdrom/cdrom.htm helps you solve the problem. Larry
