Continues re-booting
gdmark Apr-05-02 02:57 PM
I have a AT P233 with a Shuttle HOT579 Motherboard. It suddenly started to cycle at the boot stage. The BIOS screen comes up, it is running the momory test and right after it re-boots and re-boots again. I tried different memory chips, re-set the CMOS with the jumper and nothing seems to work. Can anybody give me an idea what might be wrong here?

Thank's

The CPU fan is spinning, isn't it? Reseat all expansion boards. Try it with just the display adapter plugged-in. Check all cables. Shake the whole box and listen for anything that may be loose--a screw? Be sure all screws securing the motherboard to the chassis are tight, but do not over-torque them. Observe antistatic precautions (http://duxcw.com/digest/guides/hd/rules.htm) and push down on any socketed chips (e.g., BIOS) to be sure they are fully seated. The memory still may not be properly seated. Try another power supply, if you have one handy. Larry
