soundblaster - athlon problems
tdev32 Oct-22-01 01:06 AM
In my research for a motherboard, I've come across the debate over Soundblaster cards in Athlon systems ... everything from skips, popping noises, to sound freezing to system freezing ... I'm curious if this is a widespread thing as a friend of mine was running an Athlon system and had major system hangs and soundcard pops ... he took it in over and over, got a new motherboard and power supply to no avail ... now it looks like the sound card could be the predator ... what's up with that?

Anyone have any input?

If you have a VIA chipset in your motherboard, there is a conflict with VIA and soundblaster. here is the fix. It is for VIA KT133/a chipset.
