Newegg.com has Epox board with KT266A chipset for sale
Aehs Oct-07-01 11:23 PM
www.newegg.com has the new Epox 8KHA+ that supports the new chip set, i've seen some reviews on the chipset and board and it did fairly well compared to the KT266 and some others.

Also Newegg.com is selling the new Athlon XP's.

I think the whole concept behind AMD marketing the Athlon XP products with what AMD feels is the comparable speed to Intel, instead of its true rating,( Athlon XP 1.5 is a 1.33) will be the downfall of AMD. As soon as I have the money I am unloading this Tbird setup for a P4 northwood. My trip to the darkside has been ok, but I will take my P3 over this Tbird anyday

I don't see how it can be in stock today when they have not arrived at EpoX yet. I talked with EpoX US sales earlier today about availability. They don't expect them until the end of the week. Bunta (http://www.bunta.com/) expects them next week. Larry

They keep delaying it I guess, although there are several other sites that do carry the board, under the Epox site you can find links to there online resellers and some do carry them. Decent amount of people at the amdmb.com forums have them with Athlon XP's.

BTW I ordered my board yesterday.

Actually, try finding this board in stock, anywhere in the U.S. I Have a few friends in the U.K., and they said it is readily available. By the way, this board is supposed to be excellent.

I have orders for three 1.4 GHz Athlon XP 1600+ (nice compromise between cost and performance) computers and hope to use them. I expect them to be available Monday. We shall see. BTW AMD will probably drop XP prices on the 29th. Larry

The EpoX EP-8KHA motherboards and 1.4 GHz Athlon XP 1600+ CPUs just arrived from NewEgg. The boards are right pretty at first glance—they have a rather hefty look to them. A Thermaltake Volcano 5 cooler just fits. This weekend ought to be fun. Larry

I think many of us are interested in hearing your opinion(s) of your Epox 8KHA & Athlon XP systems.

As soon as I can get the computers built. You might know it, the repair business picked-up at the same time as new computer orders. However, I doubt I will do a formal review of the motherboard. Frankly, motherboard and a lot of other product reviews are no longer profitable. They take a lot of time research, benchmark, photograph, and write and it seems that everyone with a web site writes them, which dilutes traffic. While I'm on the subject, the Internet publishing business has been in a free fall since the beginning of the year and hardly covers costs anymore. So, a lot of those web sites are going to go bye bye if they have any kind of operating expenses. Some already have. Larry
