I accidently deleted a thread asking where to find the differences between the various CPUs on this web site, sorry about that... Here's the answer:

Slot 1, Slot A, and Socket 7 are pretty much obsolete for desktop PCs; the Socket 370 (Intel and VIA CPUs), Socket A (AMD CPUs), and the new Pentium 4 socket are not. We don’t have an article that compares all of them, but you can find info on the first three and the Socket A in our build your own PC articles (click “How to” in the menu to the left) and guides. Also, try the Site Search to the left. There are thousands of pages on this web site. Larry
