dial up on boot
teebucket Aug-04-00 02:23 PM
I have a HP Pavilion 200 mhz pentium. Everytime the computer boots the dial up networking screen comes up and starts dialing. This will continu to launch 14 times on a boot. I have look at the start-up, I/E setup, modem setup, Outlook 2000 setup. I have look at the active desktop settings. I was going to un-install the dial up and re-install to see if the file is bad.

It could be a Trojan horse virus! See MS Q175312 at http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q175/3/12.ASP?LN=EN-US&SD=gn&FR=0. Larry

It is interesting that I read this thread yesterday afternoon, then later turned on my computer and heard it dialing as Windows started. The number it dialed was 1-800-555-5555. I haven't started troubleshooting yet, but it is nice to have some information to start with.
