petemaher Jan-22-02 07:34 PM
I am building my first computer following the how to section of this site I have the cpu, fan, main board (gigabyte ga-7DXR),graphics card (hercules 3d prophet) all in the machine and when I power up I dont get anything on screen. The fans all power up and the power lights come on but nothing on screen. There is a socket next to my graphics card (AGP 12V) do I plug my power supply into this? My system is DDR my graphics card is not, is that a problem?

Please help!!

That is power-in for an AGP Pro graphics card. Do you have an AGP Pro card? There is more than one flavor of Hercules 3d prophet graphics cards and I havenít time to look all of them up. I doubt that you have a Pro card. They are very expensive. See http://www.supermicro.com/TECHSUPPORT/FAQs/AGP_Pro.htm.

No. The kind of memory used on a graphics card is not related to the kind used on the motherboard.

Do you have another graphics card you can try? Larry
