I can't see my CPU temperature HELP
Sergio Oct-10-01 07:13 PM
I would like to test my CPUs overclocking capabilities ) , but the biggest problem is that I can't see his temperature. In my BIOS it says CPU diode temp. "0" C degrees.
My cooler cable is connected properly and its working OK.

On my MBO there's a connector for chassis fan, is there a way to get temperature measurement by connecting my CPU fan to that connector ?

Is it possible that my cooler doesn't send temp. information to MBO ?

BTW, my configuration is :
MBO Soyo sy6vba Slot 1
CPU Celeron 466 pga (Mendocino)
Slotket (no name)
Cooler (don't know, very cheap ). I've looked it's connected to MBO with 3 wires ... (does it mean that the third wire is for sensor ?)

Thanx in advance for all your help.

Sergio

More than likely. You need a temperature probe, which is optional with most Socket 1 motherboards.

Does it mean that the third wire is for sensor?

No, the third wire (yellow) is used to connect the fan tachometer circuit output to the motherboard to a measure the fan speed. See http://duxcw.com/digest/Reviews/cpufan/socket7/vantec.htm for details.

I do not recommend over-clocking CPUs and do not usually enter discussions on the subject. Larry

Thanx very much, but still one question remains if you answer it I'll be most grateful...
I presume temperature probe should be connected to MBO, where in which connector?

Thanx again, Sergio

That depends on the motherboard, if it has one, and should be identified in the motherboard book, which can be downloaded here: http://www.soyo.com.tw/. Larry
