Intel PC Cam
teebucket Apr-02-01 12:24 PM
I have a Gateway 450 mhz, 128 meg ram. I have install a Intel PC Cam. This camera can be used as a stand alone digtial camera or as a video camera for Netmeetings. It works fine as a stand alone and can download pictures to computer and work with them. But when we try to use it for Netmeeting, we get a error message that it can't find the camera or its being use by another device. THe camera is a USB and we also have a HP scanner that is USB. We remove the scanner and uninstall the software. We have remove the camera and reinstall it. We even got a different camera. Still the same problem. Looked in setup and all is fine. Looked in Device manager and everything looks good. When we run the test for the camera, it will pass. We have removed and added the USB. Gateway is no help and Intel is not any better.

Thanks Dennis

Run msconfig and see if there is any camera-related software running. There may also be scanner software running that is causing the problem. Larry

Ran msconfig and it still doesn't work. The only thing we haven't done is reload the OS. Called Gateway (they don't have a clue) they said they MAY try to duplicate the system and see if they can get it running

Thanks Dennis

Please do it again and see if there is a run= line with hp something or another in it in the section. Try disabling everything in the Startup. You can always enable them again. Run regedit and expand the tree to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunServices and see if anything is running there. Likewise, check HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run. Larry
