no display
Knucklehead Mar-12-01 04:26 PM
Hello;

I suddenly have no display on on of my systems. I can hear the machine booting and the startup sound kicks on but the diplay is black. I still have adjustment features available on the monitor which leads me to believe it is video card related. Is there anything else I can check or try? TIA Larry.

I would do the following:
Be sure the monitor is fully plugged into the computer
Check the plug on the monitor for bent or pushed-in pins. There will probably be some missing pins, and that is normal. Monitors donít use all of the pins in a DB15 plug.
Try the monitor on another computer.
Unplug the computer and reseat the display adapter.
Try another display adapter.
Reseat memory (you didnít get a beep code, which you should have gotten if the display adapter/monitor were defective).
Go through the steps in the third answer at http://duxcw.com/faq/mb/mb.htm (I plan to rewrite that as a separate and more elaborate how to article shortly)
Larry
