MODEM AND ETHERNET CARD UNDER LINUX.
boricua Dec-27-00 06:37 PM
I have one of my computer running Red Hat Linux 7
and the OS doesn't detect the modem (USR WINMODEM)and the ethernet card(LINKSYS). This is
my first time using Linux, and I don't know how to
fix them. Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

The USR Winmodem is designed to work with Windows and can not be expected to work under Linux. Buy a hardware modem. USR has some good ones that will work with Linux. You will have to do some configuration to get your network card working and the same goes for a hardware modem. It has been at least a year since I did this, so I won't try to explain. Have a look at the Linux How To's. They are readily available online. Try this link:
Linux Documentation Project
There are also forums like this one:
VirtualDr Unix forum
Hope this helps.
