Dual network configuration
calsafety May-30-01 05:00 AM
I am trying to set-up a peer to peer network at home. Is there a way to have a peer to peer network system installed concurrently on a computer already set-up to run as a client on a novell server system. My wife's work laptop is part of a novell system. I want to add her laptop to our peer system without corrupting her work's laptop. Thanks.

We are running the following equipment:

SMC Barricade 7008BR Router
@HOME cable modem

Desktop Pentium II 350
Windows 98 SE
PCI NIC

Laptop Pentium II 366
Windows 98 SE
Docking station
PCI NIC

Laptop Pentium II 366
Windows 95 SE
Docking Station
PCI NIC
Novell client

Yes, it is possible and I have done it. We had three Novell servers and ran Windows for Workgroups and Win 95 peer-to-peer at the same time. Little has changed since then as far as the workstation configuration is concerned. We subsequently migrated to Windows NT. You may find http://duxcw.com/faq/network/netsel.htm useful. Larry

Larry, you recommended this to me a couple of weeks ago, so I downloaded it and it works a treat. One of my users accesses our NT domain, and a peer to peer somewhere else. This certainly saves a lot of hassel and is a piece of cake to set up.

Cheers
