Incorrect file transmission
James May-20-00 10:21 PM
I have a PC and a laptop networked with 10/100 Mbps ethernet cards connected with a 3 metre piece of crossover cable. I use TCP/IP and NetBEUI protocols. Although the computers recognise each other and I can share files succesfully, the files that are sent over the network are often incomplete or faulty (i.e. images look odd and discolored while other files are completely useless). If anyone knows why this is happening and how it can be remedied please help me.

The files that look funny are probably because of the differences in the display adapters in the two Computers. I doubt very strongly that the files are being altered or corrupted. The network protocols you are using are very robust with respect to error detection and correction. If you are not getting error messages or server not found messages, the network is 99.99-100% OK.
