Use programs on other computer on the network
MikeBAM Feb-12-01 02:24 AM
I want to use programs on a differnt computer accross my network. Most basic programs work ok, but big ones wont work accross the network. how come? it like can't access files the are needed to run the program on the other side for some reason. Is there a way to run installed programs that are on a computer accross a network?

It is simply because you are trying to run large applications by first loading them across the network and then running them across the network. They are going to move large modules through the network as they do different things in addition to the data they are working on. There is nothing you can do about it except install the applications on the computers that are going to run them. Put your shared data on a shared drive/folder, put the applications on the workstations. To share data without mishap, the application has to work in a networked environment and do file locking, etc. That is, the applications have to be “network ready” for more than one person to use them on the same data at the same time, or the data will eventually become garbage.
