Barricade & Printer 'device error'

I've bought and setup a SMC Barricade and am surfing Ok. However I'd like to set up my printer on it, but when it (Brother HL-820) is plugged in the Router Admin Panel message for the printer says 'device error'. I've installed the software and get PRTmate in the list of ports but nothing changes.

Any ideas?

If the printer is bi-directional and try operating in the uni-directional mode, if that is an option. Larry

Thanks for the suggestion but bidirectional is not enabled.

I would call SMC at 1-800-SMC-4YOU. I have found their 24/7 support to be quite good. Please share the knowledge... Larry

You're right they are excellent.

Would you believe we finally managed to track it down to an intermitent fault on the printer cable!!!
