ICS Problems on Client
quantum1976 Jan-27-01 03:36 AM
I installed ICS on two computers with windows 98se by following the help guides on this web page.
The host computer is connecting to the internet using AOL. Both computers are using TCP/IP as the LAN protocol.
On the client I can ping IP addresses but not with URL addresses. I can also use Internet Explorer to view web pages if I use the IP address but not with the URL address. I guess it has something to do with the DNS but I have no idea what to do.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Rich

Try manually entering the Domain Name Servers IP addresses on the client in the TCP/IP Properties of the instance of TCP/IP bound to the network adapter. The DNS IPs should be avaialable in the paperwork from you ISP or on the ISP's web site. Larry

Hello,

I met the same problem as you where my client can only access the Internet by using the IP address of the webpage. May I know how you fix this problem? and where to get the DNS ?

Thanks.
