Installing NIC card on WIN98SE
allan petersen Jan-20-01 06:43 PM
I am trying to install a Linksys LNE 100TX card on my computer(WIN98SE) which is already connected to an operational cable modem(Surfboard SB3100 model). I am having absolutely no luck after exchanging PCI slots and NIC cards. I had no trouble installing the same type NIC card on my daughter's computer(WIN95). Any suggestions?

Just what exactly is the problem that you having? Is the computer not seeing the new nic? Why are you installing the new NIC?

I am trying to set up a peer-to-peer network with my daughter's computer.Besides sharing the printer, copier, and scanner, she hopefully will have access to our cable modem. When I go to the network configuration page, the Linksys card is not listed but the SOHOware 10/100 PCI adapter(for the cable modem) is.

Can you start the install new hardware wizard? If so, can it find the new NIC? Check to make sure that it is seated properly in the PCI slot.

Try running the diagnostics program on the floppy disk that came with the network adapter. Larry
