hi
I am having trouble sharing files through napster when using this router . I have to expose the pc to the internet using the DMZ setting to allow napster to work correctly . any ideas

regards Paul

Such is the nature of Nepster. I just downloaded the latest Beta version of Nepster and a firewall does restrict how Netster is used or how much security you have. I don't see where you can have it both ways. Larry

You have to go into your router and then setup the port fowarding under the advanced tab. Get the latest firware update first and then do it. Setup an IP address for the machine you want to be able to use Napster on. I suggest starting out with 192.168.1.3. Then place 6699 it the Port field. Then you need to setup your TCP/IP settings to have a static IP address. Setup your DNS settings too. Another thing that you can do, i have not tried it, lets say that you only have four machines or so on your network. The router assigns IP address starting at 192.168.1.100. You can just place 100, 101, 102, 103 to have open ports on 6699. Now you have dynamic IP address and an open port. If you need extra help just send me an email at christos@christossite.com

Excellent input, but doesn't that "expose the pc to the internet using the DMZ setting to allow napster to work correctly"? Larry
