Try uninstalling and reinstalling all network components and mapping the network drives: http://duxcw.com/digest/Howto/network/net2pc/map.htm. Larry

You can map a folder. But you are concerned with mapping a drive letter on your computer to another computerís shared resource, not your own. If you have Logon and restore network connection box checked in the Properties of the Client for Microsoft Networks in Start, Settings Control Panel, Network, your computer will connect to that shared resource when you boot-up and login and assign it a drive letter. Unless there is something else wrong, that resource will then be available when you want it without an additional wait while you computer connects to it. Larry
