What is the difference between a hub and a switch? When would I use one over the other?

Larry, in reading your article about network switches, I am wondering why anyone would use a hub instead of a switch?

Mainly because of the difference in price. However, switches are becoming about a cheap as hube. There are also hubs with a switch or one port that can be connected to a slower segment, such as your router. Larry
