Cable internet sharing, what's best: router? hub? switch?
jstatro Feb-06-02 03:29 AM
Hello, I've recently been hooked up to the internet with a cable modem (Roadrunner). I'd like to connect up to four PCs. The main reason is for internet sharing, then file sharing, then perhaps printer sharing (not important). I'm not quite sure which of routers/hubs/switches would be more advantageous. Any thoughts? Thanks!

No reason to buy switch if noone is playng games u read e-mail at the same time or three guys downloading movies at the same time. So at least 5 port 10Mb HUB will do it, Linksys, netgear or 3com. I had roadrunner and used to have 3 PC's connected no problem.

I totally disagree with sam7955' post. A router is much better tha either a switch or hub. 10 Mhz hubs are nearly obsolete. Larry
