Unix Network Collisions
cueballadb Jan-16-02 02:45 PM
Brand new SCO UNIX server attached to new Netgear 100 Mbps hubs using existing cabling. Problem is when I do an 'ndstat -l|pg' I get the following;

Frames Frames
-------- --------
1 collision 1925 9 collisions 0
2 collisions 2040 10 collisions 0
3 collisions 0 11 collisions 0
4 collisions 0 12 collisions 0
5 collisions 0 13 collisions 0
6 collisions 0 14 collisions 0
7 collisions 0 15 collisions 0
8 collisions 0 16 collisions 2

The collision light on the hub is not flashing. And the crappy engineers don't have a clue. I have tried different cables, network card and disconnecting half the network, still no different. Can anybody help me?

The problem may be the Interframe Gap (http://www.wildpackets.com/compendium/EN/EN-Ifgap.htm) used by the network adapter/hub. Iíd try another adapter or hub. There may be an adjustment that can be made (frame type, etc.); I donít know. Larry
