WIN98SE MULTIPLE FILE COPY PROBLEM
cmsmith1 Dec-31-01 05:53 PM
Can you help me with this problem- I can't seem to find much info about it.
I have 2 pc's running 98SE,linked by 2 nic's and a soho fast ethernet switch in-between them. I can see each computer from each machine and access the files on the hd's over the network. I can even play multiplayer games like red faction with no problems.
However when i come to copy files from one pc to another i can only copy a few at a time or one large file. When I try to copy multiple files, ie. a whole directory, the one computer freezes/locks up and need to be restarted.

Can you help - i hope so!!!

The network adapter may have a resource conflict (interrupt/port address) with another board or motherboard resource. Check Start, Settings, Control Panel, System, Device Manager for explanation marks. Check for multiple instances of network adapter drivers and delete. Disable all unused motherboard resources in the CMOS Setup (COM ports, etc.). Move the network adapter to another PCI slot. Avoid the one adjacent to the AGP video slot. Pull other board (e.g., sound) to isolate the problem. Swap cables. Larry
